WORDS

As a writer and editor I have written for a large number of national and independent newspapers and educational publications about the arts, feminism, queerness, class, culture, music and theatre and have been published in a number of academic journals writing about the politics of practice, feminism and disruption. I have also written, designed and edited a number of exhibition books, pamphlets and zines for exhibitions I have curated. I write song lyrics for my different musical projects and my band back of the brain. I established my own magazine Libertine Magazine – liberating language through poetry and song lyrics and am a poet myself. I have had a number of my poems published as well as having written a poem for my town of Stockport, which is publicly displayed in the town. I am hugely inspired by Charles Olsen’s “Projective Verse, because it makes sense to me. It is poetry, poetics and poetic thinking that all my creativity and practice stems from at source. As a late diagnosed dyslexic, of course words are my first love. Each a keyhole into history, lore, expression and theory beyond any we find fixed or suffocation in ‘fact’ or formal book. A freedom of being.
